A taste of the Basque Country

I was planning to post this in August as the G7 summit was taking place in Biarritz but due to digital problems, I was unable to post until today, 6 months later!

5 quick facts about the Basque Country:

  • The Basques are one of the oldest Ethnic groups in Europe.
  • The Basque country comprises4 regions in Spain and Three in France
  • The Basque language is not related to any other language and its origins area mystery.
  • The national sport is Pelote or Pelota, a cross between handball and squash.
  • The annual “running of the bulls during the San Fermin festival, takes place everyyearin the Basque town of Pamplona in Northern Spain

The film I suggest to accompany this menu is “Voir La Mer”, a 2011 film by Patrice Leconte, partly filmed in The Pyrénées-Atlantiques department.
