A taste of Burgundy

Here is another menu to allow you to discover France through its regional dishes. Today we are going to Burgundy, a region famous for its wines and mustard!

Burgundy is also famous for its Kir cocktail, previously known as ‘blanc-cassis’ but renamed in honour of Félix Kir who was the mayor of Dijon from 1945 to 1968.

Today, I have chosen two films to accompany the menu. The first one is Cyrano de Bergerac which was released in 1990 and features the incomparable Gérard Depardieu. Many scenes were filmed in Burgundy. Mainly in the the garden of the Abbey of Fontenay as well as in Dijon. The other film is Chocolat,  released in 2000. It is in English that is why it is my second choice, but it was filmed in Flavigny – sur-Ozerain which is one of the ‘Plus Beaux Villages de France’.
